Michael Ford has always enjoyed working with people, and finds that photographing provides a unique way of telling a story about a person.
He specializes in photographing people, and in addition to his baby, child and family photos he is known for his outstanding headshots and fine art portraiture.

As a father of two small children he enjoys observing how people grow and change  - but also realizing 'how the core of who we are always remains the same'. Capturing that essence of character, a passing look, a mood, a shy smile, a little pout - is what it's all about.

Michael's studio is near the downtown end of Burrard Bridge. The proximity of the beach and park offer wonderful backdrops for outdoor shots, but sessions in the studio are also popular - and you can always suggest your own location. Two special packages 'Belly and Baby' and 'My First Year' offer two and three sessions for a fixed fee to document before and after birth or a growing child's first year. His family and lifestyle images are normally taken in one session.

Michael doesn't set a time limit for his sessions - he works for as long as it takes - and fully guarantees the satisfaction of the client. If a group needs posing, he makes sure it is as natural and possible and that everyone is comfortable in every take. Children often like to play to feel relaxed, and his website has numerous examples of happy little ones joyously hopping about.

Michael is self taught as a photographer, and has a background in Communications. He constantly upgrades his technical skills through continuing education, especially in the rapidly changing world of digital technologies, and offers a comprehensive array of photo finishing options from coffee table books to canvas wall prints to framed triptychs.
He strives to produce interactive and creative, candidly non-traditional images.
