We are extremely excited to announce the launch of polliwog.ca - the website is now up!

We have started with listing the Health Unit and Library drop-ins - much, much more is in preparation so please check back often.

Congratulations to Julie Brown, who won the draw from Polligram #1 - she gets to go book shopping to Once Upon a Huckleberry Bush for $50!

HOW TO USE POLLIWOG

This issue of Polligram deals exclusively with our new site. We have mainly three different types of items: Feature articles, which center on topics relevant to parenting. We write on a variety of topics and welcome suggestions on what you would like featured.

We list drop-ins for Libraries and Health Units - both fantastic and free resources for new parents in Vancouver. We are the only place that brings all health Unit listings to one place. Missed your favorite topic? Check our listings and you are bound to find it featured somewhere else soon!

The third type of listing is services, products, retailers, outings etc. These listings are self-explanatory, and hopefully super useful.

LOCAL PRODUCTS

We profile select local businesses in our Local Products category. As with everything we promote, the goods have to be excellent and the work done locally. We particularly like firms that are small, sustainable, and normally born out of a life change with parenting.

Kristin Rasmussen, the creator of fabulous Mette children's dresses fits this description to a T. A skilled seamstress, a new parent and a smart and stylish designer, her dresses are gems of style and individuality. Created mostly from vintage and reused fabrics, these garments are made to look and wear well. Need a special Christmas dress for a special little girl? Check out this Polliwog listing and off you go!

PHOTOS ON POLLIWOG

We post photos with all our listings at Polliwog. Some listings have one big photo and some small photos as well. The exterior photos are there primarily so that when you go looking for a listing, you will know what the building looks like.

Additional photos are there to give you more information or a better idea of what the listing entails. All our photos are clickable - simply click on them, and a bigger window opens for your viewing pleasure!

Occasionally we post images of babies or other happy things 'just because'. As Polliwog is a community based website, we invite you to send us your photos if you would like them to have a wider exposure - just 'Send Us a Note' to establish contact.

HEALTH UNIT GROUPS AFFECTED BY SWINE FLU IMMUNIZATION DRIVE

Please note that until the New Year, many Health Units are working on overdrive to manage the vaccination clinics for H1N1 (Swine Flu). This means that some drop-in groups will not have a Public Health Nurse present, as they may have been called to assist at Flu clinics. In those cases, the Parent-Infant groups may meet as attendee run events, without a speaker or presentation. Some groups may even be cancelled, please check. We have provided phone numbers to all groups.
